Türkiye Total GHG Emissions
2023 detailed emission analysis and trend assessment
In 2023, total greenhouse gas emissions (excluding LULUCF) amounted to 552.2 Mt CO₂e. Compared to the 1990 level of 228.4 Mt CO₂e, this represents a 141.7% increase in total emissions. When compared to the previous year (2022), a 1.4% decrease was recorded. These figures reflect the downward trend in Türkiye's emissions trajectory associated with economic growth and energy demand.
The LULUCF sector recorded -69.2 Mt CO₂e of net removals (sink) in 2023. Compared to the 1990 level of -66.4 Mt CO₂e, this indicates a 4.2% increase in sink capacity.
