Target pathway (net, incl. LULUCF)
- 2030695 Mt
A 41% cut against a 1,175 Mt reference scenario (2012-based BAU); its implementation period runs to 2030.
- 2035643 Mt
A 466 Mt cut against a 1,109 Mt reference scenario updated with 2018 data; the NDC currently in force.
- By 2038Peak
Set out with the updated first NDC; the second NDC text does not restate a peak year.
- 2053Net zero
The 2053 Long-Term Climate Strategy links sectoral milestones to net zero.
On the COP31 negotiating table
- NDC 3.0New national contributions: Second NDC: a 466 Mt cut against a 1,109 Mt reference scenario in 2035, capping emissions at 643 Mt CO₂e (incl. LULUCF); net zero by 2053.
- NCQGClimate finance: Türkiye is listed in Annex I but not Annex II, so it carries no obligation to provide finance.
- Article 6Carbon markets: The Turkish Emissions Trading System (TR ETS), established by the Climate Law, has entered its pilot phase.
- GGAAdaptation: The Mediterranean basin is a climate-change hotspot; Türkiye is implementing its 2024–2030 Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan.
- L&DLoss and damage: As host, Türkiye is emphasising a bridging role between developed and developing countries.
- ETFTransparency: Türkiye submitted its first BTR in 2024; its 1990–2024 national inventory is the source of this platform's sector data.
